GO VOTE TODAY!
Nitevibe Buzz

Last election we had a dismal 25% turnout to vote. So get your asses out there and make your opinions heard, or lose the right to complain. Here are some of the endorsements we share with the SF Bay Guardian.

Green Festival
I was just about to give-up on this backwards-ass planet when I heard about the Green Festival. Music, speakers, food, ideas - on how to turn it all around. A few of the 50 + topics include "The Power of Conversation to Change the World", "Building the Local Green Economy", and "A Strategy for a Sustainable Future". Everyone needs to hear this and I would like to take this opportunity to personally invite George W. Bush and all his buddies. It's time to get a clue. Please come down and hear some new inspiring concepts on how we can stay mean and green in the Bay Area and the world. There's also a proper underground dance party with DJs and bands for your grooving pleasure. Check out Saturday's pix for info on party. Event: Green Festival, Date: Sat. 11/9 & Sun. 11/10, Time: 11am-7pm & 12pm - 5pm, Place: Concourse Exhibition Center at SF Design Center, 635 8th Street, corner of 8th & Brannan Street, Admission: $10, More Info (JP)

The Art of Funk
The President of Funk will be rolling into town this week and the party starts at Studio-Z.  George Clinton's art is loose and colorful, full of figures and animals hand drawn in a very improvisational style like his sound. Other P-Funk stars will be showing their work as well as local artists Sirron Norris and Scott Chernis.  Funk band Sfunk will be providing the live soundtrack as you browse the pieces.  Check out some of Clinton's work Event: The Art of Funk Place: Studio-Z, Date: 11/6, Time: 6:00 Admission: Free, More Info (JM)

First Thursday Art Opening
Maybe you don't end up in the galleries around Union Square very often, I know I don't cause I didn't think there was much underground art being shown there.  This show however is Big-Gulp-bladder-full of young artists who are pushing the SF art scene. Christopher Oatey will be showing his work at the Elisa Hotel. Oatey uses figures painted with bold lines in contrast with abstract backgrounds.  The effect is an unsettling blend of nature and technology.  Event: First Thursday Art Show Place: Alisa Hotel, 447 Bush Str. Date: 11.8 Time: 5:30-8:00 Admission: Free More Info (JM)

Light Up Your Nite
Originally known as AWD, a multimedia performance group which used dance, music, spoken word, and video in their events, they disbanded a couple of years ago, but reformed under Xeno. They have recently performed @ Ruby Skye, Cyberfest and Earthdance, to name a few events, and continue to make an impact on the Bay Area Scene. Event: Xeno: Zero Point Field, Place: Xendrome (1320 Potrero Ave @ 25th St) Dates: Every Thursday, Friday and Saturday night till December 14 (excluding Nov 28-30), Time: 9pm-2am, Cover: TBA, Music: mixed electronic. Love's Revenge
Love's Revenge is an SF based multimedia arts collective. They consider it their duty to raise the standards and set new trends in the art and fashion industries contributing to a better way of life locally and globally. They put on art, film, dance, DJ, photography and fashion events with a spiritual twist but not in a Jesus freak type way. They just think that we can raise some consciousness through creativity and expression and donate cash to charities like Project Open Hand at the same time. The monthly party is inspired by the universal need for authenticity, which sounds right on to me as we are bombarded with fake-ass everything and over-hyped media images. Every three months the LRSF family will take on another city around the globe. The first stop is London England this November, strategically timed during fashion week. Join with these local superheroes to creatively save the world. For more about how to get involved or contribute your talent make sure you check out their site Because The Revolution Won't Be Televised. (JP)

Just when you think you might not recover from the funkiest bass or horn solo ever, up come emcees CB and Lex Luthor slamming you with freestyle rhymes about the leather skirt your wearing as you look up wide-eyed. No one is safe from these emcees. On the rare occasions these cats are not touring with other bands like Charlie Hunter or Bob Weir, they reconvene in San Francisco to blow the minds of their fans who come back repeatedly never to hear the same jam twice.
